Elmer Rolando Manzano-Martinez has been charged with capital murder of a police officer, attempted capital murder of a police officer and aggravated assault with bodily injury.
The illegal immigrant from El Salvador is also facing federal charges for “being an alien in possession of a firearm.” U.S. Attorney Ryan Patrick says more charges could be added as the investigation continues.
However, Boss-Ogg at Harris County District Attorney’s Office says they have not decided whether to seek the death penalty.
KPRC-TV reports “according to John Donnelly with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the DA has not committed to seeking the death penalty but that it’s “on the table.”
Let’s not forget that officers were called to Manzano-Martinez home on Sunday after his estranged wife reported that he had a gun.
Despite Manzano-Martinez having a past felony conviction and thus illegally owning a gun, Kim Ogg’s office declined to pursue charges.
Don’t put it past Ogg to give this turd a “sweetheart deal”.
