Texas Man Who Shot & Killed Wanna-Be Mass Shooter Cleared By Grand Jury

Jack Wilson, the volunteer security officer at West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement (near Fort Worth) who saved countless lives by stopping a likely mass shooting, will not be prosecuted after a Tarrant County grand jury clears him.

Wilson put a bullet in the head of Keith Thomas Kinnunen after he pulled out a shotgun and shot two parishioners. The incident happened on December 29th.

There were more than 250 people in the church at the time when Kinnunen opened fire.

Tim Rodgers in the Tarrant County DA’s office said in the written statement:

“Texas law allows an individual, when they witness somebody placing others at risk of serious bodily injury or death, to act with deadly force to protect the other individuals.Mr. Wilson did just that. He did it responsibly and, as a result, he was justified under the law in his actions.”

Back in January, Gov. Greg Abbot presented Wilson with the Governor's Medal of Courage which is awarded to civilians who display "great acts of heroism by risking their own safety to save another's life." It is the highest award given to civilians by the Governor.

At the time, Abbott wrote “[T]his is the good guy with a gun who stopped a bad guy with a gun at the church in White Settlement. It took 6 seconds. He saved countless lives. He is Jack Wilson and a true Texas hero."
