Dems Have Sharpton Testify, GOP Rep Reads Back Al's Past Bigoted Statements

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee decided it would a good idea to have Al Sharpton come before them to testify about police brutality.

Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz confronted Sharpton over his long history of making bigoted statements, particularly against Jews.

Gaetz brought up an old resolution by then Congressman/current MSNBC Host Joe Scarborough which condemned Sharpton for "racist and anti-Semitic views," including calling Jews "blood-sucking Jews" and "Jew bastards."

Gaetz pressed Sharpton on whether he had ever called Jews "white interlopers" or "diamond merchants," and Sharpton admitted he called one person an "interloper," though he did not know he was Jewish.

Gaetz asked Shaprton, “have you ever referred to African Americans that disagreed with you as “cocktail-sip negros”? Sharpton said, “I have”.

Gaetz pointed out that “Rev. Sharpton has come before the House Judiciary Committee as a purported expert on policing, and yet his bigoted statements undermine the bipartisan work we should be doing to ensure that all citizens are able to come together and have safe communities.”

Full exchange below and guess which Houston CongressWOMAN stood up for Sharpton.
