Yesterday on Brian Stelter’s show he brought on the former chairman of the Psychiatry Department at Duke University, Dr. Allen Frances.
Frances said Trump is as bad as the worst dictators of the 20th century, and that his presidency might lead to even more deaths than they did.
He added that calling Trump “mentally ill” stigmatizes the mentally ill. He went on to say that “Trump is as destructive a person in this century as Hitler, Stalin, Mao in the last century. He may be responsible for many more million deaths than they were."The three dictators are responsible for more than 50 million deaths in the 20th century, (some historians put it at over 100 million).
Stelter was rightly criticized and called out for allowing such a ridiculous point to go unchallenged.He later claimed on twitter that he didn’t hear the line, saying “I wish I had heard him say it, but I was distracted by tech difficulties (that's why the show open didn't look the way it normally does, I had two computers at the table, etc). Not hearing the comment is my fault.”
