Chron’s Benjamin Wurmund writes “Forget the rust belt, Beto O’Rourke says Texas is the new target for the Democrats in 2020.”
He adds that Beto “sailed through most of Tuesday’s event, casting himself as a middle ground candidate on health care, blasting the influence of money in politics, and perhaps most importantly, getting a chance to clear up his stance on immigration.”
Beto is the guy who as a senate candidate has raised more money in history than any other candidate and he’s “blasting the influence of money in politics”.
Beto closed the debate last night, claiming he would win Texas. He said “last year, traveling to every county, not writing anybody off, not taking anyone for granted, and at the end of the day, winning more votes than any Democrat had in the history of the state, winning independents for the first time in decades, and winning nearly half-a-million Republicans, and those 38 Electoral College votes in Texas are now in play and I can win them.”
He lost last year by more than 200,000 votes, how is going to win Texas as a president candidate.
Spoiler, he wouldn't.
