During the second inning of the Longhorns Super Regional game against Alabama, the catcher threw to second base to try to get a forceout.
But pitch Miranda Elish had stopped play because the batter was called out for being out of the box. The ball hit her square in the face. She collapsed and stayed down on the ground as teammates checked on her. She was taken to the emergency room as a precaution.
On Saturday, coach Mike White tweeted a photo of he and Elish in the dugout with her swollen face.
