(Sydney) -- An Australian turtle with a green Mohawk hairdo is now on the endangered species list. The Zoological Society of London says the Mary River Turtle has become one of the world's most endangered reptiles. The Mary River Turtle is unique among reptiles in that it has green hair and can breathe through its genitals.
A researcher at Australia's Charles Darwin University says you have to go back about 50-million-years to find a species closely related to the so-called "punk turtle." The Zoological Society of London is calling for better protection of the rare turtle, which is found only in Queensland, Australia.
