A new report from U-Haul says Texas is still literally the go-to state. The number of people moving to Texas in 2017 allowed it to stay in first place as America's number-one growth state.
U-Haul subtracts the number of one-way truck rentals leaving a state from those entering in a given calendar year. Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina and Tennessee round out the top five.
Migration trends don't correspond exactly to economic or population growth, but U-Haul says its report measures how well a state and its cities are drawing and keeping residents.
