26 News Laws for Texas in 2018

Texans are now dealing with 26 new state laws that took effect on January 1st.  The laws include tougher ID requirements for credit and debit card users, changes to voter ID law and an increased ability to protest property value appraisals.  

There are also changes in regulations dealing with odometer readings, commercial milk hauling and the franchise tax on prepaid calling cards, as well as other new laws.  

These are in addition to more than 600 new laws that took effect on September 1st, such as the ban on texting while driving, and a law that says Texans can carry swords.
