U.S. House Proposes $81B Disaster Relief Bill

The federal government may not give the state of Texas everything on its Harvey-recovery wish list.

The U.S. House of Representatives has proposed an 81-billion-dollar relief bill for Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and other places hit by disasters this year.  In October, Governor Greg Abbott asked Congress for 61-billion in recovery funds for Texas alone.

The largest disaster aid bill in U.S. history would give 27-billion dollars to FEMA and 26-billion to HUD.

More than 10-billion would go to the Army Corps of Engineers for flood and storm damage reduction projects, possibly including something like the Ike Dike.
