All kinds of celebrities paid tribute to MARY TYLER MOORE yesterday, including many of her former co-stars.
Dick Van Dyke Tweeted, quote, "There are no words. She was THE BEST! We always said that we changed each other's lives for the better." And he also linked to a video of them performing "I've Got Your Number" on his show.
Ed Asner Tweeted, "A great lady I loved and owe so much to has left us. I will miss her. I will never be able to repay her for the blessings that she gave me."
Cloris Leachman Tweeted, quote, "The picture that we all have of Mary, that's how she was . . . sweet, kind, so tender, so delicate. She was America's sweetheart. We loved you."
Gavin MacLeod played Murray Slaughter on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", and he said, quote, "A line from our theme song was 'Love is all around,' and that's what it was for five days a week for seven years straight on the set.
"She was professional . . . she was extremely creative with a terrific sense of humor and a gifted actress. She set a pace for all of us to follow."
Georgia Engel played Georgette, and she said, quote, "Mary was my beloved friend, I loved her very much. She helped launch my career. She will be missed greatly."
It's unclear who saw Mary in her last years, but it's possible that it was at their "reunion" on "Hot in Cleveland". Cloris said that was the last time she saw her, and, quote, "I had a feeling I wouldn't see her again."
There's still no word from Betty White or Valerie Harper. Betty just celebrated her 95th birthday, and supposedly she was "too upset" to comment yesterday.
Valerie has been fighting cancer since 2009, and in 2013 she was given just a few months to live. But amazingly, she's outlived that by a longshot. (Come to think of it though, can someone check on Valerie for us?)
