Censorship in the media has gone haywire in recent years, with Democrat leaders wanting to censor anything Republican related on the internet. That is not some yarn spun out of nothing. This has been confirmed by tech leaders that censorship was done on multiple social media websites, which they termed as 'protecting against misinformation.' The Federal Communication Commision (FCC) has not done much to stop this and has been in dire need of overhaul.

In another win for Republicans in recent months, the FCC is back in Republican control. After some opposition in the Senate, Trump-appointee Olivia Trusty has been confirmed as a commissioner for the FCC. Trusty was confirmed on a 53-45 vote, which will grant her a five-year term on the board. It brings bipartisanship back to the board, which is now controlled by Republicans. That after Republican Nate Simington surprisingly vacated his seat two weeks ago.

Dan Schneider with the Media Research Center says Trusty is an advocate for free speech, and staunchly against censorship. So, this is a big win in a long battle.

"These are existential fights for freedom. On one side, you have the Left trying to censor and silence Conservatives, and on the right, you have FCC Chair Brendan Carr and now, Olivia Trusty, who will be fighting for our rights," he says.

Again, the idea of censorship is not a fantasy. Facebook, Twitter, all of them were guilty of silencing Republicans all over the internet. Sure, some people had clearly wrong or made-up information. But when you censor factual arguments from people about the COVID vaccine, it becomes obvious.

A Republican-controlled FCC board now bolsters the fight for free speech among all people. But more importantly, it stops blatant corruption in its tracks.

"The prior Biden FCC illegally allowed for George Soros to have a shortcut, so he could acquire over 200 radio stations right before the election," says Schneider. "These sorts of abuses have come to a stop, now Brendan Carr and Olivia Trusty can focus on executing good police, not merely reversing bad stuff."

Trusty's confirmation was sped up a bit with the resignation of the aforementioned Nate Simington. For good reason, too. If Trusty had not been nominated, the FCC was doomed to deadlock.

"Without her, the Republicans would not be in the majority. It would just be a one-to-one commission, where nothing could get done," Schneider says.

It is yet another win for Republicans, as President Trump continues his mission of draining Washington of deep state actors.

Trusty's term will expire in 2030.
