Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (PG-13) Fantasy – Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) comes to Prohibition-era America and deals with the titular creatures. From J.K. Rowling, a sort-of “prequel” to the Harry Potter films.
Patriots Day (R) Suspense drama – Mark Wahlberg and director Peter Berg recreate the events of the Boston Marathon bombing. Accurate in the important moments and very well done.
A Monster Calls (PG-13) Fantasy – Young Lewis MacDougall deals with his mother’s illness and school bullies by inventing a powerful imaginary creature (voiced by Liam Neeson). Never found a theatrical audience but worth watching.
