POLL QUESTION: Does this economy have you financially stressed?

70% of American adults are stressing over money.

It's not just people who are living paycheck to paycheck, though 58% of households are. And that includes households with six-figure incomes. CNCBC did a survey with Momentive. People say they're more stressed than before Covid. 40% say if everything in their lives came crashing down they couldn't come up with $10,000.

Mostly it's inflation sending them off the deep end. Just the general economic instability.

Here's the latest news iHeart is reporting on unemployment numbers: "The line at the unemployment office is getting longer. The Department of Labor says the number of Americans filing unemployment insurance claims for the week ending April 8th was up eleven-thousand from the previous week to 239-thousand. The increase was bigger than expected, and is the highest level for initial claims since January 15th."

And here's the market wrap up from late Thursday: The market is closing higher as inflation appears to be cooling. Yesterday's CPI report from March and today's PPI report both suggest the Federal Reserve's rate hiking campaign is working. Investors hope this means the Fed will decide to stop raising rates when they meet next month. At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 383 points to 34-029. The S&P 500 rose by 54 points to 41-46. The Nasdaq climbed up 236 points to 12-166.

Netflix was one the day's biggest gainers, rising up by over four-percent. Meantime, Progressive Corp was one of the biggest decliners in Thursday's session, falling by more than six-percent.
