George W. Bush accidentally calls Iraq invasion ‘wholly unjustified’

Former President George W. Bush blamed Russian leader Vladimir Putin yesterday for a “wholly unjustified and brutal invasion” of Iraq.

Bush was speaking about the conflict between Ukraine and Russia at his presidential center at Southern Methodist University when he inadvertently said “Iraq” instead of Ukraine.

“Russian elections are rigged, political opponents are imprisoned or otherwise eliminated from participating in the electoral process. The result is an absence of checks and balances in Russia,” Bush said.

“And the decision of one man who launched a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq — I mean Ukraine,” he continued. The crowd erupted in laughter, then Bush blamed his age for the slip.

“Anyway, 75.” he said.

Social media blew up after Bush’s gaffe.

"My dude’s subconscious straight up confessing something he’s been feeling probably since 2003," said one. "What a slip up. The universe works in funny/mysterious ways."

"George W. Bush didn't do a Freudian slip," said another. "He did a Freudian Confession."
