The White House's top health officials say they want Congress to approve more money for COVID-related "aid". However, Republicans are demanding to know why hundreds of millions of previous COVID-related funds were wasted on pet projects. That includes renovations for a minor league baseball stadium in New York and the purchase of a private ski resort in Iowa.
“When they start spending it on whoever’s lobbyist can get his hands on the special project, you’re going to see just the most absurd programs,” political consultant Luke Macias said. “Democrats, however, are just going to continue to try and get their hands on as much money as possible.”
In the president's $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, $350 billion went to help local and state governments. Instead, some politicians spent it on whatever they wanted.
“There was so much money to spend after the Democrats decided to just vomit money all over America, that it was so clear that you were going to see this type of waste, fraud, and abuse,” Macias explained.
He adds the more money the government spends the more inflation will rise.
