Democrats are all about "anti-crime" initiatives leading up to the primaries, but most rank and file officers haven't seen a dime.
President Joe Biden continues to claim his administration boosted funding for cops, but that money is still tied up in Congress. Some have argued cities should use COVID relief funds already approved.
"It's my understanding there has been proposed legislation to get more funding, but none of it has hit the streets," says Douglas Griffith, president of the Houston Police Officers' Union.
Griffith says federal funds are slow, and don't guarantee a long-term fix.
"Where is that money coming from? When is it going to get here? What are we going to do with it?"
"COPS grants for instance. They'll give you the money up front to go hire cops, but then they have to be paid for on the back end through the years."
Local officials he says, have focused more on pet projects rather than keeping violent criminals behind bars.
That leads us to the poll question today.
