MSNBC’s Kelly O'Donnell reported that President Joe Biden was caught dozing Monday during the UN climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland. O'Donnell noted that such episodes on camera can be “embarrassing.”
Biden is not alone, however. Several other prominent leaders have taken naps during events. President Ronald Regan was caught snoozing several times, and Sen. John McCain grabbed some shut eye during President Bush's 2007 State of the Union address. Vice President Dick Cheney napped during a cabinet meeting in 2007, and President Bill Clinton fell into a deep sleep during an event honoring the late Martin Luther King, Jr. in 2008.
