Just as the on-going fears of the 'delta variant' are winding down, comes the next phase of Covid control. They're calling it the 'Twin-Demic'. A mix between Covid and the flu.
Last year, the flu basically fell off the face of the earth. But now this year, it is back.
So what exactly happened to influenza in 2020? "Maybe a lot of the normal flu cases were called Covid?" said Dr. Brian Joondeph who added, "There's not a good scientific explanation of why all of the sudden the flu would disappear."
A report in USA Today said there were more than a million flu cases reported in a week, and infectious disease expert Patty Olinger told KTRH there's probably going to be a lot of people who have the flu, but think that they have Covid. "The symptoms initially, a fever, or cough, are going to have people think they have Covid" she said.
Many experts believe that flu cases last year were reported as Covid on purpose, and Dr. Joondeph told KTRH that he's leery of the mainstream media's constant fear mongering. "As soon as one thing settles down, we have something else" he said, "It keeps people afraid, it keeps people compliant. It's a never ending cycle of bad news."
And it has a new name. The 'Twin-Demic', coming soon to a city near you.
That leads to the poll question today.
