POLL QUESTION: The COVID vaccine and your job

Disappointed, but not deterred. Nearly 200 Houston Methodist employees will continue to fight the hospital system's vaccine mandate, even when they are terminated next week.

The lawsuit alleges Methodist staff should not be used as guinea pigs for a treatment which so far has only been given an emergency use authorization from the FDA.

A federal judge dismissed their lawsuit over the weekend, opening the door to more companies possibly requiring workers to get the COVID vaccine.

Registered nurse Jennifer Bridges says Methodist workers are currently in week two of an unpaid suspension and are prepared for the worst next week.

“Everyone understands it. They totally accept it. They are either already have other jobs. They're looking for other jobs. Some people have been so mentally distressed from this whole ordeal, some people are actually taking a couple months off,” she says.

“There was no way this quickly that anybody was going to try to save us. Once they see all of our documentation and proof and everything we can expose once we go to trial, it might be a totally different ballgame.”

As the appeals process moves forward, Bridges is organizing a protest against Methodist Hospital in the coming weeks.

That leads to the poll question this morning.
