POLL QUESTION: Are you still posting about politics on social media?

Two-thirds of Americans believe social media is tearing us apart, which may explain why a vast majority claim they stay away from politics when posting to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

“Most people are in the center. We've all heard of this 'silent majority' and how it's the vocal extreme, but very small group of people that get things going. All of those people tend to fill up your news feed,” says Brian Cross, founding partner of digital marketing agency Elasticity.

Cross says there's a genuine fear of cancel culture whenever you do post anything other than pictures of children, pets, food and travel.

“If there's one thing the Internet and social media in general is know for, it can be quite mean. So I think there are lot people saying look, I'm not sticking my neck out there.”

He calls it the indirect result of creating algorithms meant to steer us to our own interests.

That leads us to the poll question today.
