The Pentagon has confirmed that recently leaked video and images of UFO sightings by U.S. Navy personnel are authentic.
In one 18-second video from 2019, three pyramid-shaped objects hovered over the USS Russell as the destroyer sailed off the coast of San Diego one night in July. At one point, they reportedly hovered about 700 feet over the tail of the ship. The Navy described the objects as "unmanned aerial vehicles," and similar craft were reportedly observed by at least three other U.S. warships during military exercises over several days — one matching the speed and course of a destroyer for 90 minutes.
Earlier, in March, an FA-18 pilot reportedly used his cellphone to snap photos of three different unidentified aircraft off the coast of Oceana. Dubbed the "Metallic Blimp" and "The Sphere," both were able to remain stationary in the air despite high winds.
The video and images were leaked to filmmaker Jeremy Corbell and KLAS-TV chief investigative reporter George Knapp, who claim the clips and photos were part of classified briefings for the U.S. Intelligence Community.
In additional footage, purportedly from the USS Omaha, a spherical UFO is seen descending into the ocean without damage. According to Corbell, a submarine was unsuccessful in trying to find it.
The independent National UFO Reporting Center says sightings of unidentified objects rose to more than 7,200 sightings last year, up by about 1,000 over 2019.
The Pentagon’s Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UATPF), formed last summer, is continuing to investigate the incidents, suggesting that they’ve already ruled out that they're balloons or drones from another country. The fact that the Pentagon has even acknowledged the video and images are genuine has excited UFO enthusiasts and experts worldwide. The UAPTF is expected to release a report on UFOs this June.
