Following last summer's Black Lives Matter protests, a Fort Worth Democrat is now pushing legislation requiring "implicit bias" training for peace officers across Texas.
House Bill 312 would require at least four hours of classroom instruction on “bias in an individual’s thoughts and feelings about social groups that can influence perceptions."
Dr. Alex del Carmen already teaches about implicit bias in his criminal justice class at Tarleton State University, but agrees the topic should be expanded.
