Austin Republicans say they've seen a major shift in donations in recent months, from longtime Democrats.
Andy Hogue with the Travis County Republican Party says Austin may be liberal weird, but when it comes to public safety and earning a living, even Democrats have taken notice.
“They don't like the uptrend in crime. They don't like the homeless camping ordinance. They don't like their businesses shut down,” he says.
“Those three main issues are weighing on people's minds in one way or the other in a very diverse town, and they're looking to us for economic leadership.”
Hogue says Republicans will win their usual races, but a handful of others are now hotly contested.
