One-in-three Americans say even if a COVID-19 vaccine is approved by year's end, they won't get it.
According to WalletHub, that number is likely higher in Texas, which consistently ranks near the bottom for vaccination rates thanks in part to a large and vocal anti-vaxx movement.
“We are 51st in coverage for insurance, and that's our lack of Medicaid expansion. That certainly is a big cause,” says Dr. Melanie Mouzoon, pediatrician for the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.
“And we have low participation in our immunization registry,” which Mouzoon says limits the ability to call and remind people when they're due.
