Back in May, HPD officer Jason Knox, the son of Houston City Council Member Mike Knox, was killed in an helicopter crash. Yesterday, Cooper Knox started first grade, and got a surprise when he walked out of his house to go to school.
HPD put together a special escort for the little guy.
Police on foot, motorcycle and horseback, along with friends and neighbors, walked with Cooper and his mom from their house to the bus stop where they cheered Cooper on as he got onto the bus. Even Chase Cormier, the other officer involved in that crash, and who is now in a wheelchair, was there for the big sendoff.
