What were you doing on this date in 1992? You probably don't remember exactly what you did that day. But you do remember what happened.

Johnny Carson, the king of late night television, did his final 'Tonight Show' for NBC. His retirement set off a chain of events that led to David Letterman jumping to CBS and eventually beating Jay Leno in the ratings.

Even though it was 28 years ago, the farewell speech Carson gave as he closed the show is one of the most iconic moments in television history.
