When Democrats vowed to turn Texas “blue” they weren’t joking. They brewed up the Lone Star Project and sent political operatives to this state to flip the reddest of “red” districts and counties, like Congressional District 27, where I grew up; in the firm grip of the GOP and Congressman Michael Cloud.
He appeared a shoo in. But this primary, the Dems drew on some sneaky identity politics and pulled in Ricardo de la Fuente from California, where he also was running for Congress District 21 . Yes, same guy running for Congress in two different states. Don’t know how the California Democrat Party handles this, but De la Fuente won the nomination of South Texas Democrats, legally, based on filing a Victoria address as his residence. For his California race, he listed a California address.
And oh yes, his father will be running for the same California seat as a Republican. Beware.
