FRYER FEATURE: A RARE VIEW

A rare view of Mercury, the planet, is a phenomenon of this Veterans’ Day.

The little “messenger” planet is transiting across the face of the sun, to our eyes from planet Earth. If our eyes could see, first and foremost you shouldn’t look into the sun directly, period. Second, don’t think we will see much Sun today with an arctic front carrying freezing rain bears down on us and much of the U.S.

Step in NASA; their telescopes and websites will broadcast the journey of Mercury today. Take advantage of that, it won’t happen again until 2032 and won’t be visible from the U.S. again until 2049. Besides, it might help warm you on what will be a cold day.
