High School Football Teams Sing National Anthem When Bands Can't Be At Game

According to NBC 5 in Dallas, a recent high school football game between the Granbury Pirates and the Crowley Eagles almost started without the National Anthem, but patriotic players took matters into their own hands.

The game was a makeup for a game that had been rained out the night before. Scheduling prevented either school's band from being there, so the announcer told the crowd that there would be no National Anthem before the game. An NBC 5 viewer told the station that Granbury players, upon hearing the announcement, put their hands over their hearts and began singing "The Star-Spangled Banner." The opposing team joined in, and then the crowd joined in as well.
