PSA Claims Tackle Football Is 'Just Like Smoking'

A new PSA from the Concussion Legacy Foundation compares letting children play tackle football to letting them smoke cigarettes.

According to Sporting News, the spot is part of the group's “Tackle Can Wait” campaign, with the goal of children younger than 14 playing flag football instead of full-contact tackle football. The Concussion Legacy Foundation's claim is that kids who start playing tackle football at 5 years old have ten times the risk of developing CTE compared to those who wait until 14. The claim is backed up by a new study from Boston University's CTE Center.
