Emotional: Vietnam Vet's remains flown home to Texas by his own son (VIDEO)

It was emotional, and incredible to watch.

An American hero’s remains finally came home after going missing in 1967.

Travelers at Dallas Love Field Airport watched it all go down as a Southwest Airlines plane carrying the American airman touched down.

Col. Roy A. Knight Jr. was shot down on May 19, 1967, as he led an airstrike in northern Laos. He was declared dead in September 1974 after search and rescue efforts had failed.

His remains landed at Dallas Love Field Airport on Thursday afternoon, the same airfield where he said goodbye to his 5-year-old son, Bryan, all those decades ago.

And it was his son that flew his father home.
