You knew there would be jokes….at least good natured ones. NASA ballyhooing Friday’s planned all-female spacewalk from the International Space Station. But there is a glitch….it’s the spacesuits, you see. ISS is not carrying enough spacesuits to fit the smaller female forms.
Astronauts Anne McClain and Christina Koch were scheduled to both take part in the walk managed by two female ground flight directors. But McClain made her first spacewalk last Friday and discovered the medium-size hard upper torso fit her better that the set she was originally designated to wear. So NASA Flight Engineer Nick Hague will now be filling out the larger suit, taking McClain’s place….as Christina Koch gets the smaller suit. The historic all-female thing will await another day.
Do such records really matter? I mean these are astronauts. What accomplishment. Enough said.
