(New York, NY) -- Asian students received half of all the offer letters that went out to public school students hoping to score a seat in the city's highly touted specialized high schools.
Over 27-thousand applicants took the admissions exams this year. Nearly five-thousand were sent offer letters.
Asian students accounted for 24-hundred of those offers, or 51-percent. White students received 28-percent of the offers. Hispanic kids received 316 offers for a 6.6 percent share, and black students got 190 spots for a four percent share. The number are similar to last years.
