The Moon is at the center of yet another international race of space. The Chinese, Israelis, Japanese moving into the realm of lunar landings….even as the U.S. is collaborating with private entities like Space X and Blue Horizon for putting humans back on the Moon.
Those people, of course, will need some transport on the surface….and now JAXA, the Japanese space agency announces an agreement with Toyota to speed up their ongoing study of a manned, pressurized lunar rover.
The idea is a fuel cell- powered electric vehicle with a range of over 6200 miles. There’s some cool video showing the concept. Nothing detailed about the actual joint venture. But it’s interesting that the announcement came out of Plano Texas, where Toyota moved its North American HQ.
