Tyler Blevins has built a huge following as a top video gamer and has 13 million followers on streaming website Twitch.
Reuters is reporting EA paid him and other top gamers to play its new game in the first hours of launch in February. That helped Apex Legends sign up 10 million users in its first three days.
Apex Legends is a battle royale game similar to last year's megahit, "Fortnite."
