AUDIO: "RODEO RECORDS" ~ Shara Fryer

….. attendance records, competition records, auction records. That’s just Rodeo Houston and we’re proud of it.

Now 87 years old, “our Rodeo” is very much a reflection of the people of our town….the 33,000 volunteers who actually keep it running….and who open not just their time and attention, but also their pocketbooks when it gets down to auctions and student scholarships.

It happened again Sunday, with the School Art auction….rodeo and western heritage art….we showed you the champions... from Pasadena ISD the grand champion was 18 year old Hector Maldonado. Hi’s color drawing, inspired by a photo of bareback rider Lane McGehee, went for a record-breaking 240-thousand dollars. We’ve posted the drawing and the combine of bidders….all longtime Rodeo Houston volunteers and supporters. Take a look on the Houston’s Morning News blog.
