(Guangdong, China) -- An eight-year-old Chinese girl is recovering after doctors removed a three-pound ball of hair from her stomach. The girl, known as Feifei, was brought to a hospital in southern China recently after she began vomiting and having pain within her extremely swollen stomach.
Doctors ran a CT scan and found the mass of hair tangled with food residue inside of her.
They had to perform open surgery to remove it as it had begun to harden. Feifei's mother said her daughter ate her hair since she was two-year-old, but had recently stopped the habit. Experts say pica, a disorder causing one to eat unusual things, most frequently involves the habit of eating hair.
