Obese Man Charged Extra for Taking Up Part of Another Passenger's Seat

An obese man on a 5-hour flight was charged an extra $212 by the man sitting next to him for taking up a portion of his seat.

When a second seat was not available to purchase to provide more room, the two decided that the obese man would pay for half of the other passenger's seat.

Some passengers thought the obese man was being targeted.

"Well, the $212 didn't make you any less squished in your seat, so it really feels like you just blackmailed this guy for being fat," another passenger said.

Other passengers on the plane supported the compromise made by the two men saying, "You had every right to ask the flight attendant for a solution, and between the man and you, a solution was agreed upon."

What do you think about this situation? What would you do if a larger person was taking up part of your seat on a plane?
