Robbery Suspect Killed By Police, Innocent Bystanders Wounded

(New Orleans, LA) -- An armed robbery suspect is dead In after an exchange of gunfire with local and state police that left five innocent bystanders at a nearby bus stop seriously injured. The bullets flew near Tulane Avenue and Elk Place early last night. No police were injured except for an officer whose vehicle crashed into a tree and caught fire while rushing to the scene. He escaped serious injury and was helped out of the vehicle by Good Samaritans. Last night's shooting was the seventh to occur in the New Orleans area over the weekend leaving at least six people dead.
