More Than 300 Evacuated from Camp Eagle After Floods Washes Out Entry

REAL COUNTY, Texas — More than 300 campers were safely evacuated from Camp Eagle after flooding washed out the camp's main access road, prompting an emergency response from state and local officials. County Judge Bella Rubio made the request after floodwaters made the camp's primary entrance impassable.

Approximately 325 campers were transported to safety without reported injuries.

Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety's South Texas Region, including personnel from Cameron County, assisted in the evacuation alongside the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department and other local emergency response agencies.

The region is still recovering from recent flooding that has damaged roads and infrastructure.
