15-Year-Old Drowns In Magnolia After Wading Into Flooded Retention Pond

Montgomery County authorities say a 15-year-old boy has died after drowning in a flooded retention pond near Magnolia.

That happened in the 30000 block of Turriff circle where a group of teens was riding four wheelers. One of the teens waded into floodwaters near the pond then sank when the water suddenly deepened.

The boy was eventually located underwater by authorities using sonar.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says no signs of foul play are expected, and they are operating an investigation as standard with any drowning.

The teen has not been identified.
