The Houston ISD has reportedly settled a lawsuit over its staff at Bellaire High School socially transitioning a female student over a period of years.
As a result, staff at the school will only refer to the student by her biological sex.
The controversy became public knowledge earlier this year when Denise Bell with Moms for Liberty exposed it at a district board meeting. A lawsuit was filed against the district in June.
According to several Bellaire High School employees referred to the student by a masculine name or male pronouns for two years. This was despite the fact that the girl's parents asked school employees to use their child’s legal name.
The agreement indicates the district has five business days to comply.
