Report: AI Chatbots Used False Information To Change Political Opinions

There are more concerns over the use of AI, after a new study found that AI chatbots were able to use inaccurate information to change people's political opinions.

"This is a really big deal" said political science expert, Bo Kabala, "It speaks to the power of AI, and we're seeing it in politics, we're seeing it in academia, it's really revolutionizing everything. So, I don't think it's a bubble, I think it's here to stay and I think the study really speaks to that."

And it speaks to the growing reach and influence, that AI is having in our everyday lives.

"People just see it as authoritative because it's so real, and people are looking to AI for companionship, for guidance, for emotional support because it feels so real" Kabala told KTRH.

But unfortunately as the study found, AI can also be -not- real.

"You prompt AI to be persuasive, and it's not necessarily going to pay attention to whether the persuasion is being truthful or not" noted Kabala, "And so imagine prompting AI on a political campaign, you can prompt AI to put misinformation out, and it won't say I can't do that."

Thankfully, Texas is one of the 38 states that regulates AI, with the new law - the 'Texas Responsible Artificial Intelligence Governance Act' goes into effect on January 1st.
