Republican Matt Van Epps has come out on top in the closely-watched special House election in Tennessee.
His victory over Democrat Aftyn Behn is seen as dashing hopes of a larger "blue wave" after major Democratic wins in this past November's elections.
President Trump announced his "complete and total endorsement" of Van Epps just weeks after Democrats swept key races in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York on November 4th.
Trump won the state's congressional district by 22 points in the 2024 election and Republicans pumped millions into the race, but recent polls showed a closer race than originally expected.
