Governor Greg Abbott's Top Priority Is Property Tax Reform

Not only did Governor Greg Abbott officially launch his re-election in Houston, he also announced what his top priority is going to be during his campaign. It's property tax reform.

"He's putting his full might behind this policy issue" said Brad Johnson, senior reporter with The Texan, "This is something he feels like he can advance the ball on, and move forward with."

Abbott is going with a six pillars approach, with voters getting more oversight on local government spending, and tax increases.

"He hopes it passes, he's laid out six prongs of reforms that he wants done on the property tax issue" Johnson told KTRH, "From local government spending limits, to appraisal caps. It will be a lift, but he is putting his onus behind it."

And it will be needed, as many have grown frustrated with property tax 'reform'. Instead, they would like to see property tax elimination.

"If 2024 is any hint, Abbott is going to go full bore on this" noted Johnson, "It is a top priority for him, that's for sure."

Hopefully, the 4th term will be the charm, for real property tax relief in Texas.
