One thing the federal government is doing right now, despite the ongoing Democrat-induced shutdown, is getting smaller. Thanks to efforts by President Trump, we could see around 275,000 civilian employees leave the federal government by the end of the year.
This will mean President Trump has fulfilled yet another one of his major campaign promises. Matt Margolis with PJ Media pointed out, "Trump ran on 'We need to cut waste and fraud in the government.' Everybody knows the government is full of people who have just been there for years and aren't doing anything."
Margolis also pointed out that this could help with our ongoing budget issues due to how much money it will save, saying, "275,000 employees are going to be leaving; that should save the government about $28 billion a year. That's a big amount of money that we're going to be saving."
Now many on the left are raising concerns about how functional the federal government will be after these employees leave, but Margolis defused those worries, pointing to Elon Musk's X, formerly Twitter, as an example.
He said, "We saw this happen when Elon Musk bought Twitter and drastically cut the number of people working for Twitter, and Twitter worked just fine without all that excess. The federal government can work just fine without all the extra bloat."
