Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo claims that fiscal responsibility is her "priority" ahead of Commissioners Court on Thursday..
"My priority today as it has been over the past few years I've been in office is going to be fiscal responsibility," she said. Keep in mind that she wanted you to pay for a trip she and some staffers took to Paris earlier this summer. She also pushed for a basic income program as well as several other programs termed wasteful by analysts.
The Judge also said she would not support a proposal to give law enforcement raises.
Hidalgo made the comments before the scheduled meeting, and those came after two Democrat Commissioners, Lesley Briones and Adrian Garcia, outlined their wants from the budget being worked on.
This will be the first Commissioners Court since Hidalgo's behavior was punished with censure last week after storming out of court once fellow commissioners voted her desire for a tax hike down.
The theatrics led Precinct Three Republican Tom Ramsey to tell KTRH last week he was looking into removing Hidalgo from office.
