President Trump is doubling down on mass deportations of illegal alien criminals. But some experts are warning that they could come to a halt, if Congress doesn't act soon.
The bottom line is, I.C.E. needs more funding from the Big, beautiful bill.
"The more quickly that Congress can actually get that bill to the president's desk, the better positioned ICE and Border Patrol will be to carry out their duties" said Andrew Arthur, resident fellow with the Center for Immigration Studies.
Approving more funding for ICE is the easy part. It's some of the other parts of the bill that are the problem.
"I think that Congress increasingly understands the urgency of that immigration funding, and that it will actually provide that money in due course" Arthur told KTRH, "Right now ICE has about 50,000 detention beds available to it, and probably needs about 100,000 or more detention beds in order to carry out the President's directives, and Border Czar Homan's directives."
Worst case scenario, president Trump could simply ask Congress for an immigration funding bill on it's own. The White House though is hoping that the Big, beautiful bill will be passed before July 4th.
