A rapidly spreading fire at Olympia Drywall Co. on McAllister this morning resulted in a massive response of nearly 100 firefighters. It was a three-alarm fire, requiring HFD to call in reinforcements.

Thankfully, despite the massive scale of both the fire and the response to it, there have yet to be any injuries reported from the fire.

HFD Captain Sedrick Robinett spoke to our TV partner Channel 2 on the scene and said, “We ran into a few issues: water supply, we had a few hydrants that had low pressure, so we had to readjust the apparatus to get more water from the hydrants.”

Right now, officials are investigating the cause of the fire and are asking residents to do their best to avoid the area. The Houston Health Department is also evaluating air quality, but according to reports, there is no major threat to the public.
